Artistic Statement
In my artworks I focus on discovering the possibilities of cognition and cognitive processes – based mostly on the current research in physics – and is reflected in the creation of sophisticated spatial installations or paintings. By using optical illusions (whether real or scaled) I lead the spectators/observers to the hidden images and messages, which not only refer to delusions of our senses but at the same time open doors to my subjective perspectives.
The possibilities, or rather said the impossibilities of cognition – as another important part of my work – I continuously explore via different forms of art presentation (in gallery and non-gallery spaces). I am questioning the position of the viewer towards the artwork and the positioning of the artwork towards the gallery space. By choosing what is accessible and what remains hidden for the observer, I am pointing out the irreconcilability of the world and uncertain the relationship between a physical reality and a distant imagination about it. The intention of my research is also to study different relations to the mystery – on one hand a scientific verification/falsification, on the other hand the secret as the essential part of the artworks. In my eyes a visual language has a potential to become an equal partner to the scientific one.
